Beekeeping has historically been an important activity in the Province of Como, to the point that Bregnano hosted one of Italy's most significant Bee Museums from 1950 to 2010.

In an area acquired by the Municipality on the outskirts of the town, the Parco del Lura decided to establish one of its "Gates" dedicated to bees, by restoring an abandoned building previously used for community celebrations.

The surrounding space was revitalized by planting trees and shrubs favored by pollinators—bees and other beneficial insects—and inside, a teaching classroom was created. Hexagonal display units outline a visitor pathway whose proportions echo the honeycomb structure of a beehive.
